HIV is everywhere, and it’s not going
away. Yet.
The Seattle HIV Vaccine Trials Unit
(HVTU) is currently conducting research studies to try to
find a vaccine that would prevent HIV infections.
There’s no doubt that the world is desperately in need of an
HIV vaccine.

An estimated 33.3 million people
worldwide are living with HIV |

In the U.S., it’s
estimated that 1.5 million people are HIV infected |

More than 25 million people have died of AIDS since 1981 |
 |
As of 2007, Africa has about 12 million orphans because of AIDS deaths |
 |
Approximately 40,000 people in the U.S. will be infected with HIV this year |
