Seattle HIV Vaccine Trials Unit

HIV is everywhere, and it’s not going away. Yet.

The Seattle HIV Vaccine Trials Unit (HVTU) is currently conducting research studies to try to find a vaccine that would prevent HIV infections.
There’s no doubt that the world is desperately in need of an HIV vaccine.

	Since the beginning of the epidemic, almost 60 million people have been infected with HIV. UNAIDS 2009
	In the U.S., it’s estimated that 1 million people are HIV infected. CDC 2008
	The number of people living with HIV infection in the US (HIV prevalence) is higher than ever before. CDC Aug 2011
